The First NYS Orientation

DESCRIPTION

This was the first formal program for NYS. In order to seek volunteers for the celebration of the Environment Week being organized by City Volunteers of Lalitpur, the orientation was carried out among interested young people. At the orientation, 11 interested youth participated. The orientation started at 11 am with the introduction session carried out by Rina. Following the introduction session, Dhurba Lamsal explained the history and objectives of NYS. We had a tea break for some time. Our formal session restarted with an opening question by Rina for the participants, “What do you know about volunteerism?” After the collection of their answers on small paper pieces, their answers were read out, one by one. The session was then taken over by Garima where she talked about volunteerism in national and international context. This was followed by a presentation by Mona. The presentation was about climate change and its impact on the earth. Her presentation was the last component of our orientation. At the closing session, 7 interested young participants agreed to volunteer for the week. At the end, the volunteers signed the terms and conditions for working as NYS volunteers.
